Also, Jon Krakauer is wonderful as well. Under the Banner of Heaven lived in my head for weeks after I read it, i just couldn't stop churning it over. I've liked every book of his I've ever read, but that one really burrowed in deep.
The Wager was wonderful. I spent too much time last year trying to push people into reading it - I don't think anyone took my advice, alas. But it put me on a mini streak of reading about shipwrecks and I highly recommend Endurance by Alfred Lansing if you've not read it. (And I've got Erebus by Michael Palin on tap, once I finish the library books that are due back soon. I'm hoping for intriguing things there too.)
Really solid curation of page-turners here. Bad Blood and American Kingpin are both absolutley gripping, and the fact Into Thin Air doubles as a leadrship manual is something I hadnt considered. The range from true crime to business scandals to historical disasters keeps the list from feeling repetitive. Appreciate the Bookshop.org links too, makes it easy to grab whichever one jumps out.
Thank you for your great post, Bobby!
Actually, I haven't read any of the books listed. I should read more.
Looking forward to reading your next post.
Thank you, Kei! :-)
I also love the movie version of Catch Me if You Can.
Same here! It’s incredible. I’ve been meaning to re-watch that soon because it’s been awhile!

You’re so right. That book was insane.

You have great taste! I also loved Endurance. I’m not familiar with Erebus, so I’ll have to check that one out too. I hope it’s great.

That means a lot! I’m so glad you enjoyed the list. 😃
